Lush Grease Lightning

'Strikes the Spot with Lightning precision'

I have been wanting to try this since my skin decided to hate me and I read many good things about it!
I couldn't actually find this in my local store so had to buy online and pay the delivery charge (the pain) lol.

It is £5.95 for a 45g bottle and I have a feeling this is going to last me ages because one or two pumps is enough.

What I like about this is that it is all natural ingredients and  Lush state that it 'attacks the spot without taking it out on the rest of your skin'.  Most products used for spots dry the spot out and so usually the skin surrounding it also dries and nobody likes dry skin!

  • 'Aloe vera gel to soothe and moisturise.
  • Seawater for its antiseptic properties.
  • Grape juice to cool and calm the skin.
  • Thyme, rosemary and tea tree herb infusions to be gently antibacterial.
  • Witch hazel, an astringent that is great for bruising and helps broken blood vessels shrink and contract.
  • Tea Tree oil, a powerful antiseptic.'
On the Lush website it tells you also how this product came about. After they took part in the BBC Apprentice they decided to offer the managers of their Lush shops to invent their own products and this won!

So what do I think of this? I think its very easy to use and is a clear gel that dries when on the face, it feels like a face mask when they dry but just on a small part of your face lol.  I think it does help to reduce the spot but it hasn't made mine completely disappear but I wasnt expecting it to do that in the first place.  I think this is a great product if you do just get the odd breakout here and there but I find sometimes though that once the gel has dried on my face you can see it and your face looks like it is peeling! This also doesn't affect any other part of my face, big bonus!

Lush you never cease to amaze me! :)

Rimmel Exaggerate Eye Primer

I first heard of Rimmel's eye primer from Lily Pebbles where she stated this was a good alternative to the more expensive ones out there.

This is only £4.99 which is nice and cheap! I love Urban Decay's Primer Potion but its so expensive that I wanted a cheaper primer because I would rather pay out on a more expensive foundation then eye primer.

I dont wear eye primer too often only when I'm going out. I went to London the other week and used this and it kept my eye shadow put all day which I was surprised because it was a very long day!

I cant say it maximise the colour like it states.  It is also meant to make colour waterproof but I cant say I tried that out because my eyelids dont get oily. I have however read a review from someone with oily lids who used this and said it wasnt very suitable for them. It blends nice and well and the doe foot applicator is easy to use.

I would say this is a great alternative if you just want to make your eye shadow stay put more then anything and for £4.99 I cant really complain as it does what I want it to lol.

Have you found any cheaper alternatives?

Matrix and Colour Restore Hair Toner for Blonde hair

A couple of months ago I had my hair dip dyed/ombred whatever you like to call it, blonde. The problem with going blonde is that it can give you orangey/brassy tones and so a blue/silver toner is needed (the blue/silver toner is for blonde hair, not other coloured hair) to cancel these out and also keep the blonde bright.

Colour Wheel - Shows what colours correct each other

I bought a toner from my hairdressers which is the Matrix total results shampoo in Silver and I also previously bought the Colour Restore in Iced Platnium conditioner.

You dont need to use the toners every time you wash your hair just once or twice a week will do. I dont use both at the same time either, though you can but I will just use one or the other.

They both are a Blue colour and you just apply like normal and wait for 3 minutes or so,or you can leave it up to 20 minutes for better results and then rinse out. It does advise to do an allergy test before using these 48 hours before and to wear gloves (though I dont because I am a rebel ;) lol ).

I really love the Matrix total results shampoo and this is the one I prefer out of the two. There isnt anything wrong with the Colour Restore but I prefer to use a conditioning treatment on my hair that repairs it so it goes nice and soft!

I find the Matrix shampoo smells like pumpkin, a pumpkin which has been carved! Though it could just be me and thats not the smell it leaves on your hair! lol. The Colour Restore just smells kind of like Garnier hair dye with the no amonia lol which is fruity.

I have seen results by using the shampoo and conditioner and my hair doesnt really have much brassiness to it now and the blonde is keeping really well! I paid £11.00 for the Matrix (you can also buy this online) and thats for a 300ml bottle which for a toner is pretty good. I paid £10.00 for the conditioner which isnt too bad either and this can be found at Boots.

Apivita Lip Balm with Honey

I dont where I have been living but until I got sent this in my package from *Farmaline, I had never heard of Apivita before.

Apivita are the first natural cosmetics company in Greece. Apivita means the life of the bee. The products of the bee is a source of inspiration for the company.

My first thoughts on this was I didn't actually like it, I didn't like the smell of the honey and I found myself really pushing it on to get some product lol. I think I also didn't like the thought that it wasn't my Vaseline lip balm.

Well I was stupid to think that because now I absolutely love this! I love the smell of the honey now and I think I found it hard to apply at first because it was new. I use this all the time throughout the day and I cant get enough of it and it has replaced my Vaseline balm.

This is also 100% natural ingredients which is great! I also love the packaging of this and that the balm is at an angle shaped for the lips.

Taken from the website:

  • Restores cracked lips with vitamin A, a- bisabolol and avocado oil
  • Moisturizes and softens lips with honey, olive oil, beeswax, cocoa butter, shea butter, avocado oil, castor oil and jojoba esters
  • Vitamin D and orange essential oil protect from environmental toxins and prevent irritations
  • Ideal for dry and cracked lips
Free of: Parabens, Silicones, Propylene Glycol and Mineral Oil.

These are around £5.00 which to me is pretty pricey for a lip balm but it is really good and natural!

Have you tried any Apivita products before?

Sleek Pink Sprint 366 Blush Palette

L-R Pink Parfait, Pink Ice, Pinktini

The other day I went shopping and spent lots and lots of money even though I have been trying to save it. I always find that if I stop myself from spending I just end up having one massive splurge at some point!

I was in Superdrug and was on the search for a new blusher/s as I have been wanting to get some new blushes for ages because I only use pretty much one, which is the No7 in Coral Flush .I do love my No7 but I wanted something new and different.

I bought the sleek palette because you get 3 different blushes all for £9.99 and I love the colours and shades they do. I though the Pink Sprint was a good choice for Autumn/Winter. These are all matte in this palette.

With my No7 blush I find I do have to layer to get a nice colour, so when I first used this I did not realise how pigmented it was and made myself look crazy! I was thankful for my Rimmel Powder that day!

You only need a little of this because its so pigmented and I love love love the colours and how well they look on the skin! Sleek has now made me want to get some of the other blusher palettes because I am so in love with this one lol! They last really well too and blend well.

This was a great purchase and the packaging is also fab!

Thumbs up for Sleek lol! What Sleek products have you tried?

Simple Soothing Facial Toner

First of all I would just like to apologize for the lack of posting from me lately. I'm really struggling to find time at the moment!

I have lots of different toners and cleansers but one I really like is the Simple soothing facial toner.  I have sensitive skin and problematic skin! And this doesn't seem to make my skin worse like one of my toners does and I think it makes it slightly better ....maybe.. or I just like to think that but its definitely not making it worse!

It has 3 simple goodness as Simple puts it which are:

'1 Vital Vitamin Pro Vitamin B5 restores, softens and smoothes.
2. Skin loving nutrients - Chamomile gently softens and sooths
Witch hazel helps tones and tightens pores
                                       Allantoin softens and protects
3. No perfume, No colour no unnecessary or harsh chemicals.'

It comes in a 200ml bottle and is only £2.99! Bargain Baby! All I do is apply an amount to cotton wool and apply on the skin in the morning and at night. It also doesn't contain alcohol which I love!

This doesn't upset my skin and does leave it feeling nice and smooth and this is a nice facial toner. I am actually nearly empty with this bottle which is a rare thing for me with beauty products! I had never tried simple products before, my sister had their eye corrector pen which she likes so I did expect good things from this  and good things it was lol :)

Lush Wish List

I have this really big unhealthy obsession with Lush recently. There is just so much stuff I would love to get and here are just 6 of them! Which was hard to choose so I just mainly stuck with their Christmas items!

1.  Fairy Tale  I just think these look so pretty! It was inspired by the sugar mice you used to get in sweet shops. It is strawberry and coconut milk with white chocolate ears!

2.  Magic Wand  I can be a fairy with this lol! This is reusable and gives mounds of sweet smelling foam. This is a solid version of Lush's snow fairy shower gel.

3.   Luxury Lush Pud What an amazing looking bath bomb! Lavender fragrance and this is meant to be perfect for relaxing!

4. Melting Snowman  This is a bath melt and it just looks too good! His legacy is 'to give you great skin' lol!

5.  Grease Lightening  This is a product Lush do all the time but I really want to try it. It has all natural ingredients which attack the spot and not the rest of your skin! 'Strikes the spot with lightening precision'!

6. Pumkin  Ok so this is actually part of their Halloween products but its so cute! It leaves you feeling uplifted and refreshed and the bath water will turn an orange colour!

I got really excited making this lol! I also just like to say how good do Lush products look to eat, not that I would advise it lol.

Barry M Matte Nail Polish

Barry M is known for their colourful cosmetics. I love the range of colours they have in their nail varnishes and I have quite a few of them!

I was shopping the other day and I wanted to buy some more Autumnal make up and when I go shopping I always have to take a look at the Barry M section and see what nail polish they have and if there are new ones out.

I noticed they had some matte nail polish and from photos I have seen on matte polish I like the look so had to try some.  I bought crush which is the one on the left the berry kind of colour and Espresso on the right the black colour. I had to buy the black as I think the look black matte polish has is fab!

One thing I absolutely love about this polish is that it dries really quickly! I hate waiting for nails to dry and find I am an expert at smudging them!

I love how the black looks once applied but the crush one I cant say I like it matte, I think I would prefer it with shine lol.

So far I haven't chipped it as I think Barry M do chip fairly quick for me. Will I buy any more matte colours? Probably not, I don't think I can get away with matte nails lol, so I will stick to the shiny colours!

Soap and Glory Mist You Madly Body Spray

Soap and Glory Mist you Madly Body Spray is a 'flirty, floral fragrant body spray'. Soap and Glory products have always smelt amazing and this is no disappointment!  Soap and Glory is available at Boots.

The first time I tried this was when I received a Soap and Glory gift set at Christmas and it contained a big bottle of this. I absolutely loved it and the scent is amazing!!

As mentioned you can get a bigger version of this 250ml and this is for £6.50 which is more value for money but I got the smaller 100ml version for my bag and that is £3.50. Look at me doing my maths working out value ;)

This is a good size for carrying around in your handbag and is great for as it is put on the website 'flash of fabulous'.

It has bergamot,
blackcurrent, magnolia, freesia, vanilla and musk. I think I can smell the vanilla and musk the most :)

I find the scent lasts a long time and I have had a few comments on how nice it smells. Depending on how much you spritz at a time will depend on how long it lasts but I wouldn't say you need too much of this at one time.  A spritz here and there perhaps!

I want to try and save my perfumes for more special occasions instead of everyday, which is really hard as I have to put perfume on lol. So this works as a great replacement.

Bioderma Sensibio AR Compact Anti Rougeurs

Hey guys, sorry I havent dont much posting this week but I have a stinking cold and havent felt up to it!
Anyway I wanted to do a quick post on this Bioderma Sensibio Compact I was sent by Farmaline.

I love and I know a lot of people love Bioderma Cleanser so when I received this I was very excited! But then came the bad part.... unfortunately the colour I received was suitable for a more darker tone :( So I am unable to try this but I thought I would share with everyone what it does as I like the sound of it :)

The Bioderma Compact is a corrector for redness on the skin and is specially formulated for sensitive skin that is prone to redness. It helps to reduce the redness and even out complexion. I love the sound of this as I get quite red on my chin area from eczema so this sounds like it would be great to cover it! This is around £15.47.

Its really nice and creamy and it also protects from UV sun rays.  It has a mirror and comes with a sponge hidden underneath.

I think this only comes in 2 shades which is light and dark. I would love to try the light but I would want to test it first to make sure it is light enough as I dont want to waste £15.00!

Lierac Paris Huile Sensoirielle Aux 3 Fleurs Blanches

Lierac Paris Huile Sensoirielle Aux 3 Fleurs Blanches is a sensory oil for the face, body and hair. It nourishes and regenerates the skin for 24hours and when added to bath water diffuses a scent of relaxation.

I received this in my box of goodies from Farmaline :) I have tried this in my bath, on my hair and face and body.

The Lierac Huile Sensoirielle contains Jasmine,Gardenia and Camellia which provide relaxation  anti oxidant and restructure  It also contains Hazelnut Oil,  Almond Oil, Grape seed Oil, Argan Oil to help moisturise. There is also scents of  osmanthus, amber fresh vanilla, precious woods and vetive.

I think the scent to this is a nice sweet smell but its not as nice as the Galenic Creme  lol but still good! The smell to the Galenic just made a big impression on me!

Hair:  I used this on the mid to end lengths of my hair as where I ombre'd it this was where my hair was really dry. As suggested I places some Sensory Oil in the palm of my hand and then scrunched into my hair. I cant really say it soften my hair that much but it did leave a nice perfume scent and made it a bit more shiny.

Face and Body:  Again I applied an amount into my palm and applied to my face and body, this is meant to absorb quickly and not feel greasy which once absorbed it doesn't feel greasy.  It made my skin feel nice and soft and has helped towards banishing my dry patches!

Bath:   I added this to my bath and this is meant to help relax and become a softening and protective bath milk water.  For me it didn't really relax me any more then a bath normally would lol.

This is around £21 on Farmaline, would I buy it myself? Probably not but thats not because I dont like the product as I think for dry skin on the face and body its perfect but I would rather go for a cheaper alternative and use something like Johnsons Baby Oil as that works just as well for me.

Galenic Argane Creme Confort Infinite

The Argane Creme Confort Infinite was sent to me in my package from Farmaline http://emmaloujohansson.blogspot.com/2013/10/farmaline.html . I have never heard of Galenic Paris before but Galenic are a 'youthful skin expert, Galenic proposes high end, natural beauty products sold in pharmacies'.

I was sent the Argane Creme Confort Infinite which is for very dry skin which you apply morning and/or evening to the face and neck,  this sounds perfect for me! It also helps protect the skin from signs of ageing which is an added bonus as I dont want no wrinkles!

It contains Argane Oil with Vitamin E, this helps to moisturise and nourish, Argane Peptides which stimulate cell renewal, Beeswax which is also nourishing and protective,Shea Butter which is nourishing, protective and repairs, Seasme Oil which is nourishing and prevents the skin from drying and Calendula extracts which is cooling and finally Vitamin E which is an antioxidant.

This all sounds really good to me so I was pretty excited to try this out.

The first thing in which I noticed about this product was the smell, its absolutely incredible!! This applies really well and absorbs well too, leaving that wonderful scent behind! This Creme works wonders, my skin is no longer dry :) and this will be great for the winter months for me when my skin can get really bad and dry out. You also do not need to apply a lot of this.

This is around £27.00 for 50ml at Farmaline which isnt on the cheap side but it is better then having dry skin. I found last year when my skin got really bad that nothing was working for me, if only I knew about this then!

Galenic you have impressed me! I would love to try some more of their products and hope they are as good as this. You can do a skin diagnostics on their website http://www.galenic.com/my-diagnosis/skin# where you answer 5 questions and they recommend certain products of theirs for your skin needs.

Have you heard of Galenic before?

MUA Pro Base Primer

I think this is the second time I have tried a Makeup Academy make up product, the first was some eyeshadow palettes but I ended up throwing them away because they were too bright and I didnt wear bright eyeshadow lol. I have also previously tried their nail fur and beads http://emmaloujohansson.blogspot.com/2013/09/mua-fur-effects-and-mua-nail.html .

I dont actually wear primer that much only if I am going out as thats when I want my make up to last. I didnt want to pay out too much for one and so I found this one in Superdrug. I tried to find this on their website to link it but its not on there...

On the back of the 27ml bottle it says ' A velvety smooth formula that feels light on your skin and creates a flawless even complexion. Wear alone or under foundation for a long lasting finish.'

I do like this primer, it doesnt feel greasy and does feel light on the skin and doesn't cling to dry patches. I cant say its evened out my complexion....maybe a tiny bit? But it does keep my make up lasting longer. It has a really faint scent, so faint that I cant make out what might have a similar scent lol.

When you apply foundation over the top, foundation does apply over it well and it all blends nicely. I have tried different foundations with this primer such as Max Factor Whipped Creme, Revlon Colorstay and Revlon Photoready Foundation. All which look great and stay great when using this primer.

This is a good primer for the price, I think it was something like £4 or £5. I have also used a smashbox primer before and between the two I like each for different reasons as I find the smashbox primer does even out complexion but MUA's doesnt for me, but MUA feels nice and light and blends reall well. I suppose it depends on what kind of mood I am in to what primer I use for going out.
